1. EU publishes digital euro bill featuring privacy controls, offline guarantee

The European Commission published its legislative plans to underpin a digital euro on Wednesday, saying it would ensure Europeans can pay digitally for free across the currency zone. The text includes safeguards for privacy and financial stability, but many stakeholders are already questioning the benefits of the potential new central bank digital currency (CBDC).

2. Israel seizes $1.7M in crypto from Iranian military with Chainalysis’ help

Israel’s Defence Ministry, in a collaborative effort with the crypto investigations firm Chainalysis, has successfully seized $1.7 million worth of cryptocurrency. This massive operation targeted funds belonging to the Iranian military and the Hezbollah militant group in Lebanon.

3. Blur, Pepe lead altcoin action as Bitcoin settles above $30K

As Bitcoin stays above the $30,000 mark, a number of usually quiet altcoins are surging. CoinGecko data shows that NFT marketplace and aggregator Blur's native BLUR token is up more than 11%. Other alts experiencing a surge include the new meme coin Pepe, which launched in April and is based on the Pepe the Frog internet meme.

4. Circle sets sights on Hong Kong, sees 'enormous demand for digital dollars'

Circle is joining the growing list of crypto firms setting their sights on Asia. The company, which is best known for launching the stablecoin USDC, is paying close attention to regulatory developments in Hong Kong, chief executive officer Jeremey Allaire said during an interview with Bloomberg Television at the World Economic Forum in Tianjin, China.

5. Binance EUR banking partner to halt support of the crypto exchange in September

Binance’s current EUR banking partner, Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited, will stop supporting the crypto exchange after September 25. “Binance will be changing the provider for EUR deposits and withdrawals via Bank Transfer (SEPA). Our current partner, Paysafe, will no longer be providing these services to Binance users from 25th September 2023.” The development comes as Binance has faced backlash from financial regulators in Europe and the U.S.

De tekst gaat over het waarborgen van privacy en financiële stabiliteit. Veel belanghebbenden twijfelen aan de voordelen van een potentiële nieuwe digitale valuta van de centrale bank (CBDC).

2. Israël neemt 1,7 miljoen dollar aan crypto in beslag van het Iraanse leger met hulp van Chainalysis

Het Israëlische ministerie van Defensie heeft in samenwerking met crypto onderzoeksbureau Chainalysis $1,7 miljoen aan crypto in beslag genomen. Deze massale operatie richtte zich op middelen van het Iraanse leger en de militante groep Hezbollah in Libanon.

De huidige EUR bankpartner van Binance, Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited, stopt na 25 september met het ondersteunen van de crypto exchange. “Binance ruilt de provider in voor EUR stortingen en opnames via bankoverschrijving (SEPA). Onze huidige partner, Paysafe, levert deze diensten vanaf 25 september 2023 niet langer aan gebruikers van Binance.” Het is een ontwikkeling boven de terugslag van Binance wat betreft financiële toezichthouders in Europa en de VS.
