What is Kraken

The San Francisco-based Kraken exchange was founded in 2011. According to “CoinMarketCap”, it has the 10th highest 24h trading volume and is said to be the largest crypto exchange in terms of Euro volume and liquidity. Kraken users can buy, sell and trade bitcoin against Canadian Dollars, British Pounds, Euros, US Dollars and Japanese Yen. Though Kraken is suitable for any experience level, the integration of functionalities such as “margin trading” as well as other advanced trading features also have a lot to offer for crypto-veterans. Depending on the level of identity verification chosen by the account holder (e.g. phone number,physical address, identity documents proof of residence), users subscribe to one of five tiers(Tier 0-4). The higher tiers allow for fiat currency funding and significantly higher funding limits. With respect to fees, Kraken is considered to have comparatively low transaction fees.
